How a puppy can save your life

It’s hard to say what your feelings really are when you get a puppy from a kennel, but I can promise  it’s definitely intense and you’ve got to live it to know what I am talking about here.

I guess it’s a combination of love, desire to rescue and lots of tendress all combined.

Besides, let me tell you there’s a primordial instinct involved, like a sort of willingness to provide protection, affection, which is also increased by the fact you’re helping a creature that went through a lot of suffering.

I really advise everyone to experience this kind of emotions because it’s simply amazing and words can’t explain it.

A Rescue Dog is a Dog that is rescued from a possible euthanasia after being found as a stray dog or  that has been saved from an abusive home by an animal rescue organisation  or a dog that is simply no longer wanted or can no longer be cared for by its owner.

Often these dogs come to these facilities with tragic abuse stories. It’s like if they went through a nazi camp-style treatment. Basically they are creatures that only need love and security in order to get back on track.

Unfortunately in Europe even shelters and kennels have been found involved in cases of animal abuse and I really wish the EU will take the appropriate measures to prevent this from happening again to better protect our little friends.

Would you like to know what are the rescue dog I love the most? The most tragic ones.

This is a major commitment but being myself still young and with a lot of energy and resources to dedicate to this project I am willing to dedicate myself to this objective.

Luckly I have enough time and money to dedicate to the cause and according to my possibilities I decided to channel a major stake of my profits to save dogs from being abused.

Time and love are fundamental elements to make a dog feeling loved and accepted. Also I really enjoy sharing these emotions with my loved ones too.

However helping dogs is an expensive business because there are many practical issues you have to care about, like food, drugs, medical procedures, the vet bills, the heating and many other things.

If you want to figure out what I am talking about you can think to the movie “Mission”. That’s exactly the kind of trigger that can pull an average folk to wake up at 6 in the morning to help a  dog in need. It’s something that comes from the inside, if you don’t feel that way this is not the right commitment for you.

Let me tell you I consider myself as extremely lucky and proud, today more than ever, as the family I come from, they taught me what the real values are and thanks to their love today I can share it with our little friends too.

As an Animal Rights Activist, I love all the living creatures but dogs really broke my heart.

Dogs have emotions that can almost being defined as equal to ours. In some cases they’re even amplified. Those who have a dog they certainly know what I am talking about. Dogs have emotions very similar to ours, that’s why as time goes by they become part of our families.

The psychological profile of a dog is also very similar to the human’s, I am talking about the main personality archetypes: there is the loner, like my Pilly, there’s the insecure like Blacky, and then you have the impudent like Mirty.

Then you have the more social ones, the typical single-lady, the good girl, the bad girl etc and among all of them you always find a sort of hierarchy which can be defined as another similarity to our own world.

When you have a dog, you share emotions and sometimes you even expect they would talk to you.

To those who object that dogs don’t talk, I always reply that dogs speak with their eyes.

Having a dog is simply amazing, especially for the sense of gratitude you receive from him/her. More especially if they come from lager-shelters. When they come from that sort of hell, they don’t know what cuddling is and if you get next to them they get uneasy, and try to walk away from you as they fear to be kicked like they were used to be. Sometimes they don’t even know what food tastes like. Like when I adopted Princy that refused even the most succulent dog food.

Now she’s become greedy for food.

The sense of gratitude I receive from the dogs  I saved comes in different ways.

For example Pilly always check my son who is 2 years old and since he has been sleeping in the cradle...she sleeps with him, she checks the nannies doing their job. When my son cries she comes over and call me by barking.

Last summer I was in Tuscany, at my holyday home and my son fell sick while asleep. During the night he had a fever of over 103 degrees (40° Celsius)

There was no way for me or my wife to even think or realize he was sick, because he was quietly sleeping on his cradle,  or apparently so.

Besides the night before he was absolutely ok and didn’t do anything weird that could have predicted some kind of illness.

The really incredible thing happened when in the middle of the night, among all the average nighty sounds you may hear, I started hearing Pilly getting shaky and running around our bed.

It couldn’t be an intruder because the alarm was absolutely silent and the other dogs were quiet. So while Pilly was playing nuts I went over to my son’s bedroom and once I touched his forehead I felt it was really hot.

As soon as we realized what was going on, me and my wife we got immediately busy to solve the problem and he kept us awake until 6 when the fever finally went down

Pilly saved our son from unpredictable consequences Alessandro could have faced if she didn’t alert us.

This is the kind of gratitude you can experience from a dog who was dying in an abusive kennel and which now lives within our family love...

These are unique emotions....

I love my family and I love my dogs because they are part of my family.

I will dedicate my whole life to rescue as many dogs as possible and I will do my best to awaken the public opinion on this important issue.
